Staff & Our Pets

Dr. Tom Honey, DVM

Our fearless leader, Dr. Tom E. Honey hails from Campbellford, Ontario. His veterinary education took him to the esteemed Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, from which he graduated in 1989.  Before too long, he saw the light and migrated to beautiful British Columbia in 1997, drawn by fond memories of the veterinary externship he did in the area. Tom spent the first few years in Squamish working hard to grow his vet practice and maintained interest in animal behavior, neurology and skin disease.

He delved into the outdoor recreation capital and some of his favorite hobbies including mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, triathlon and skiing. Tom has been a participant in the Squamish Test of Metal and has more than a few thrilling tales of two-wheeled adventure to his credit. At the moment, Tom and his partner Carol share their home with Casey, the Dachshund, Charlie the Persian cat and their bird, a Sun Conure named Willow!  Tom also gets plenty of snuggles from our resident three-legged clinic cat Polar.

Dr. Angela Dattolico, DVM

Dr. Angela Dattolico was born and raised in Toronto.  Her first interest in animals began with a love of dinosaurs, and at age 4 she intended to become a paleontologist.  As Angela grew, her passion for four legged creatures was transferred to horses and companion animals.  Through grade and high school Angela was very involved in riding and showing horses and was also a certified riding instructor.

Angela attended the University of Guelph and completed an Honours Bachelor of Science in Animal Biology before being accepted, on her first attempt, to the Ontario Veterinary College.  Throughout school a great deal of Angela’s educational and formative experience, including her externship, was related to equine studies.  In 2008, Angela lost her beloved Boston Terrier, The Toad.  This experience heightened her interests in companion animal medicine.

Upon graduation, Angela and her husband Aaron decided to fulfill their dream of moving to BC.  In October 2010, Angela and Aaron moved to Squamish with their 2 Boston Terriers, Iggy and Freddie.  Angela and Aaron enjoy the outdoors with their dogs and love to snowshoe, ski and cook.  They are also actively involved with Boston Terrier Rescue Canada since 2003 and foster Boston Terriers regularly.

Deborah Morriss McKenzie, Hospital Administrator

Deborah, our behind-the-scenes helper, has been a part of the GVH team since 2003. Deborah came to GVH with a great deal of knowledge and passion for horses and large animals of all sorts as well as companion animals.

She has resided in Squamish since 1996 and lives in her beautiful home in Brackendale with her husband Grant and two children Gabriela and Teo. Their two dogs, Buck, an Australian Shepherd and Puma, a Spaniel/Terrier cross, complete the household!  Deborah ensures that the clinic stays in top running order with, of course, the cooperation and help of GVH’s fantastic staff.

Polar, Resident Clinic Cat

Polar came to us as a small kitten surrendered to the Squamish SPCA.  After capturing all of our hearts she was officially made part of the GVH team.  She had a deformed back leg that the doctors determined was a genetic birth defect that needed removing.   After the surgery was completed to amputate her leg which was causing her grief while she grew she recovered well and is happier now than ever.

Polar remains in the treatment area of the clinic as she is timid of people but has made it her job to help comfort patients after their surgeries or if they are here boarding for the weekend.
