Puppy Program/Classes

Garibaldi Veterinary Hospital prides itself on our innovative puppy program that we  have in place for our client’s and their new puppies.  During your visits with your new puppy our staff and Veterinarians will spend a great deal of time answering any questions you have and explaining all the different aspects of what to expect from your growing puppy.

We will give you a customized GVH Puppy Booklet full of incredibly useful information.  You will also receive a Puppy Pack that includes lots of great items such as a tooth brush, toy, brush and your puppy’s first Advantage flea treatment.

We also offer beginner and advanced puppy socialization classes and in addition we have presently expanded those complimentary classes to include a husbandry component!

We are focusing on a series of 4 classes taught by Kate Mutzke with Dr. Honey and/or Dr. Dattolico present to discuss general puppy wellness which would include, as an example, internal parasite and flea control.  Pet care including demonstrations on some aspects of handling would also be discussed with topics such as nail trims, muzzle awareness, teeth brushing, table comfort, body position and restraint training.

These classes will be held on Wednesdays at 7:00pm and cover exercises that will build a foundation for polite social skills taught through reward based training methods.  The classes are different every week and are always fun-filled and exciting!  By the end of 4 weeks the puppies and their guardians will have a good foundation on basic social skills and a systematic way to teach behaviours to their puppies to further their education all based on fun exercises and appropriate reinforcing behaviours.
